NOTE:The
directions on this page applies also to Microsoft Entourage versions earlier
than the OS X version. For other Macintosh operating systems, follow the directions
on this page and the same results will be achieved.
NOTE: If there are more than one POP e-mail account, each of those accounts must be treated with these steps.
Step 1: Using the Entourage Tools menu, select Accounts. This will open the Accounts window which contains a list of e-mail accounts in Entourage.

Step 2: In the Accounts window, select the account with the settings to update and then click the Edit menu. This will open the Edit Account window which contains the settings to change for SMTP authentication.
Step 3. In the Edit Account window, click the bottom button 'Click here for advanced sending options'. This will open an additional dialog box which contains the specifics for SMTP authentication.

Step
4. In the SMTP options window, check the box next to 'SMTP
server requires authentication'.
NOTE: For most cases, the SMTP login information will be the
same as the POP server information so most can just check the area next to "Use
same settings as receiving mail server". However
if your SMTP login is different from your POP login information, you will need
to use different login information for your SMTP and POP servers. In this case,
select the area next to "Log on using" and for your Account ID, enter your account
name. Enter your password next to the Password label. In order for
Entourage to remember the SMTP password, check the box next to 'Save password
in my Mac OS keychain'.

Step 5. Click OK to close any windows. Once this step has been completed, SMTP authentication has been enabled for the e-mail account.
NOTE: If there are more than one POP e-mail account, each of those accounts must be treated with these steps.
